Phonics Screening Check
In June all Year 1 children will take the phonics screening check. It is designed to give teachers and parents information on how your child is progressing in phonics. Your child will be sent home with phonics reading sheets and QR codes, with links to short phonics videos, for you to do with your child at home to help support them in their phonics knowledge.
Counting
Being able to count reliably is essential for children's understand of number in Year 1. Young children need TONS of practice counting. There are many things that they can count – simple things like beans or buttons or rocks. You can also use this useful website to help your child learn to count. Click here - Top Marks
Number Bonds
In Year 1 children need to learn their number bonds to 10 and 20, Here is a website and a free app that you can sue to support your child's learning at home.
