  • Mansfield School's Space Adventure

Mansfield school children embark on a space adventure

Lucky children from Oak Tree Primary School in Mansfield were visited by a craft team from the Four Seasons Shopping Centre, to take part in a special workshop where they were sent on a journey of space exploration, even having the chance to make their own solar systems.

The ‘Season of Space’ workshop is part of Four Seasons Buzzy B Club’s brand-new initiative that brings exciting, educational activities to school children in the area. Landing first at Oak Tree Primary School, 79 young space cadets - from year five and six - enjoyed the intergalactic learning adventure, as well as making their very own planets.

Rebekah O’Neill, Four Seasons Shopping Centre manager, said: “We are thrilled to have been able to bring our Buzzy B Season of Space workshop to Oak Tree Primary School. It’s the first time we have not only been able to host such an event outside of the centre, but it’s also the start of our new, themed sessions based around educational topics.

“By utilising our already very popular kids’ club as a platform in which to do this, we want to incorporate learning with fun and by the look on all the children’s faces, we succeeded in doing so.”

The budding astronauts of the future were able to really get stuck into the creative aspects of the task, which included designing a variety of papier mâché planetary showstoppers, with staff from Kreative on hand throughout to help. The children were also taken through the solar system, learning interesting facts and information along the way.

Matt Thorne, Year 5 Teacher said “It has been great to work with the team from the Four Seasons. This was a great opportunity to finish our space topic with a fun craft session and so we jumped at the chance to invite the Four Seasons team into school. We are proud to be the first school in the area to host the workshops and look forward to the children telling us about seeing their artwork in The Hive. “
