  • France day 5

    We visited a roman museum today. We spent the morning looking around the museum with a tour guide who told us lots about the Roman artefacts and the archeological site where the ruins were found. In the afternoon, the children got to try their hand at being a Roman soldier. In the evening, we tried different circus skills before having dinner with the French children for the last time.​

    We spent the day in Lyon. First we had to get a bus and then an underground train into the city. When we arrived, we went to a park with lots of different animals for a picnic. After that, we took the Funiculaire to the top of the hill to get a good view. We did, some souvenir shopping and took a boat along the river. ​

    We visited a French school for the day which was really interesting. In the morning, we went shopping with the French children to buy ingredients for a picnic lunch. Then we prepared all of the food together, sandwiches, baguettes, fruit salad and lemonade. In the afternoon, we played football, badminton and a game called chuckball that we had never played before. In the evening, we visited French families for dinner.​
  • Donation to The Send a Child to Hucklow Fund

    Our Easter raffle raised £214 Donation for The Send a Child to Hucklow Fund. Our good friends Pauline and Derek Smith visited us to receive the check. The money will go towards helping other children have a great time at The Nightingale Centre, Great Hucklow.

    Today we visited a swimming pool in the morning, the children had lots of fun playing in the water. Luca, Sophie and Izzie all got to have a go at diving too! After we learnt about how honey is made and got to see the whole process. Later, we baked flapjacks to sell later in the week and made pizzas for tea.
  • France, day 1

    After leaving at 1am, we arrived at St Pancras at 4 and had a long wait for the eurostar. We arrived in France at 1pm. This afternoon, we played some games with the French children where we had to find the location of different sweets on a map. Then the children relaxed by splashing each other with a hosepipe, A lovely 1st day.
