Yorkshire Wildlife Trip 30.3.23

We are all very excited to be going on our trip to the Yorkshire Wildlife Park. After learning all about biomes and how animals have adapted to new environments, I'm sure the children will have a wonderful day seeing lots of animals and also learning lots from the sessions led by the zoo keepers.

Just a few reminders for next Thursday (30th)

• Children need to be in full school uniform.
• They will need a waterproof jacket and something warm to wear - We will be outside for the majority of the day.
• We will be leaving at 9 and should be back for 3. If we will be late, you will recieve notification from the office.
• Children will need a drink with them.
• Children will need a packed lunch. If your child is usually school dinners, then a dinner will be provided.
• The children will not need any money.
• No electronic devices to be taken.

I know you children will have a wonderful day and they will represent Oak Tree Primary School excellently.

Times Table Rockstars

It has been wonderful to see so many children improving their times tables knowledge since we launched TTRS earlier this year.

Times tables are vital for children to become good mathematicians. Not only should children know their times tables up to 12 x 12 by the end of Y4 but they need to know their division facts that go with the times tables.

eg: 6 x 8 = 48   and 48 ÷ 6 = 8.

Times Table Rockstars allows children to make those connections whilst having fun.

Having a secure knowledge of times tables helps in year 5 and 6 as we move onto more difficult fractions and long division. When looking at more difficult fractions and long division, having that secure knowledge allows the children to 'know' these facts and focus on the new learning.
